Teacher Spotlight ~ Celebrating CTE month!

Vickie Potter ~ HS3 ~ Capstone & FAST class
Most Interesting Job: Taking shells out of king crab meat on an assembly line. The shells glow under the black light and there were 4 people (two on one side of a conveyor belt and 2 on the other) in a tent with a black light and a conveyor belt of crab meat. Why most interesting? It was a huge industry in our small villagae in Alaska. Everyone either worked at the cannery or fished for king crab meat.
Most Enjoyable: Other than teaching, my most enjoyable job has been working at Emerald Downs in the group sales office. It is easy work, and I get to meet lot's of interesting people. For instance, Mike Holmgren (seahawks coach) comes every year for a Seahawk party, I "have" to meet his bus, and escort him and his coaches to the suites. I also get to try out all the promotions. When we got the giant slide for the kids, I got to try it out. When we added new itmes to the menu, I got to do the taste testing. I also get to be around horses, trainers, jockeys and fans in a very exciting sport.
