More soccer Highlights from an email sent by Jairo Garcia:)

WOW!!!!!
If you didn’t go to the game you missed out Evergreens boys soccer team most exciting victory. Evergreen had to drive 2 and half hours to Olympia High School to play the Western Cascade Conference Champions the Capital Cougars. The weather was nice in the mid 70’s and it was a beautiful day for a playoff game. The game didn’t start of so well for us when Capital scored in the 10th minute of the game to take a lead of 1-0. Four minutes later Capital was called for a hand ball inside the box, which meant a penalty kick. Right before the penalty kick Capital switched goal keepers. It didn’t help as Raunni Franco kicked the ball low and to the left side of the net while the keeper dove to the right side. Game tied 1-1. A minute and half later Kevin Ventura takes possession of the ball and lobs it to Israel Robles who takes a shot and finds the back of the net. Evergreen 2 capital 1. It stayed this way until half time and the last ten minutes of the game. Just when it seems that time is going extra slow and we are all waiting for the time to expire so we can celebrate. Capital scores a goal from a free kick with a header. Some might even question that it went because Erick Hernandez hit the ball out. Referee’s say call stands. Game is tied with only 7 minutes left in the game. Head Coach Omar Lara decides to put in Christian Vasquez in as forward and it pays dividends, as Christian finds the back of the goal at the 77 minute mark from a beautiful pass from Saul Torres. Evergreen has the lead and keeps it for good. Head Coach Omar Lara was drenched with the water bottles. Evergreen just punched their ticket to the State Tournament. This will be the 4th time in Evergreen History that the Boys Soccer team makes it to state. We have found out we play Shorecrest High School tomorrow but the time and place is to be determined. Shorecrest has gone to State tournament the last 4 years and will be a tough match up. They also have the reigning Gatorade soccer player of the year Michael Harris. It should be a great competitive game. The Olympian has a article on their website with a photo gallery. Check it out. Thanks for all the fans that made it down for the game for all the support.

WOW, what a game last night. It was back and fourth all game long. Sumner scored first then Raunni Franco scored for us. Then we accidently scored for sumner. Then Israel Robles scored again. Tied 2 to 2. It stayed like that for the rest of the game. We went into overtime and neither team could find the back of the net. The game was decided in a shootout best out of 5.

Sumner shoots first and scores.
Raunni Franco shoots and scores tied 1-1
Sumner shoots and Erick Hernandez blocks the kick
Evergreen shots and scores 2-1
Sumner shoots again and Erick blocks another shot
Evergreen shoots and scores 3-1
Sumner shots and scores 3-2
Fabian Valencia shoots and it’s far right
Sumner shoots and Erick blocks his 3rd penalty kick, the Evergreen bench clears and Erick is underneath a pig pile. Wolverines win in a Shootout. We play on Saturday at 1:00 at Olympia High School. As of right now we are trying to find out who our opponent is. We do know it is a number 1 team from a league. Thanks for the support

We should all plan to be out there and support our team....the weather is supposed to be awesome that day!! Way to go Wolverines!!
