This is an all school-wide league event meaning that Mount Rainer, Hazen, Foster, Renton, Kennedy, Highline, Lindbergh and Tyee will be participating. Which ever school collects the most cans by the 5th will be recognized. Please turn in cans according to your small school: Mrs. Beal (HS3) Mr. Geyer (AAA) and Mr. Lewis (TEC). In the end all three schools will combined all the cans collected to represent Evergreen. Thanks!

Most interesting job's:
- While working for a company called Clinton Corn Processing (this was a division of Standard Brands) where all types of products were made from good old Iowa Corn, such as Corn Starch, Dextrose, Corn Oil, Fleishmans Gin and of course cattle/hog feed. I was given a shovel and told to go up on the roof of the "feed house" building and shovel maggots (they were living in the rotting feed dust that had accumulated for several years) off the end of the roof down to the waiting dump truck which was parked below the roof I was working on. This job lasted for 8 hours. The stench was so overwhelming that I became violently ill while I was working, causing me to vomit constantly.
- At this same factory, I was given and "asbestos" suit to wear with a welders mask and a steam gun to use to steam cokroaches out of the walls in one of the buildings. I then was instructed to shovel up the THOUSANDS of dead roaches and wheelbarrow them out to the dumpsite. I removed three wheelbarrows of roaches and transported them to the dumpsite which by the way, was teaming with hungry rats just waiting for their next meal. Just as an after thought, I would like to mention that my hourly wage was $5.50 at this factory!
Most Enjoyable Job:
- I enjoyed training gogs for obedience and agility trials. This is the job I would like to retire doing.
- Mrs. Weets would like me to let you know the importance of getting a good education.... or you may end up doing one the first 2 jobs she mentioned:)

Teacher Spotlight ~ Celebrating CTE month!
Vickie Potter ~ HS3 ~ Capstone & FAST class
Most Interesting Job: Taking shells out of king crab meat on an assembly line. The shells glow under the black light and there were 4 people (two on one side of a conveyor belt and 2 on the other) in a tent with a black light and a conveyor belt of crab meat. Why most interesting? It was a huge industry in our small villagae in Alaska. Everyone either worked at the cannery or fished for king crab meat.
Most Enjoyable: Other than teaching, my most enjoyable job has been working at Emerald Downs in the group sales office. It is easy work, and I get to meet lot's of interesting people. For instance, Mike Holmgren (seahawks coach) comes every year for a Seahawk party, I "have" to meet his bus, and escort him and his coaches to the suites. I also get to try out all the promotions. When we got the giant slide for the kids, I got to try it out. When we added new itmes to the menu, I got to do the taste testing. I also get to be around horses, trainers, jockeys and fans in a very exciting sport.
