Come celebrate Day of the Dead @ the Seattle Center this weekend. This is a free event! Loads of music, dance and arts and crafts for the whole family! Activities get underway Saturday morning @ 10 am!
What is Dia de los Muertos you ask? It is a day when people come together to celebrate loved ones that have passed away! Please read the poem bleow!

1. Pride Foundation Scholarship Deadline: January 23, 2009
Amount: up to $10,000

Basic Requirements:
Resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington; senior; self-identified LGBTQ, LGBTQ families or straight allies.

Cabaret Night Auditions Tomorrow!!!!

Final reminder for Cabaret Night Auditions!
Auditions are TUESDAY, Oct 28th, at 2:15 in the MPS.

(please note the room change…)

Please share the following information with your students and encourage them to audition! Some posters are already up, and you will be seeing more in the coming weeks.

What is Cabaret Night?
A night of acting, singing, dancing, and fun. Anyone can perform and it is not a competition.

When is it?
*This year’s Cabaret Night will be held on Thursday, November 6th at 6:30 in the MPS.

How do I get to perform?
*The only requirements are that you audition on Tuesday, October 28th and that you attend tech rehearsals after school on Nov 4th and 5th. Students from all three small schools are welcome to audition.

Do I have to be totally prepared by the audition date?
No, but you need to be able to show Ms. Bishop at least one prepared part of your act and explain the rest. You will need to be fully practiced and prepared by November 4th at the latest.

What types of performances do you accept?
Any type! Comedy, Lip Syncs, Magic tricks, Songs, Dances, Scenes, anything at all, as long as it is school appropriate and under 5 minutes long.

How much are tickets and where can I get them?
Tickets will be $4.00 and you can buy them at the MPS door on November 6th, the night of the show. (Staff can get in for free!)

Can teachers and staff audition?
But of course.

When are auditions again?
Auditions are TUESDAY, Oct 28th, at 2:15 in the MPS.

UW Husky band Participating in District "Life after High School" College and Career Fair!!!!

U.W. Husky Band to Kick-off College Rally at Life After High School
As part of Highline’s Life After High School Fair, the Husky pep band will play, and then talk with middle school students about the value of a college education. Students will be encouraged to sign up for the state’s College Bound Scholarship, which pays for four years of tuition and books at any state college or university for low-income and foster children. The district-wide college and career planning event gets underway at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22 at Mount Rainier High School with the college rally scheduled for 7:00 - 7:45 p.m.

Drama Club announces auditions for Cabaret night!

CABARET NIGHT Auditions are TUESDAY, OCT. 28th @ 2:15 in Rm 112!!
  • What is Cabaret Night? it is a night of acting, singing, dancing & fun! anyone can perform and it is not a competition.
  • When is it? Cabaret night is Thursday Nov. 6th @ 6:30 in the MPS

7 days till Life after High School Fair....

Don't forget that next Wednesday October 22nd is the "Life after High School Fair" at Mount Rainer High School. Plan to attend this a great way for you to get to know our campus reps better. Also, we have a few out of state Colleges attending this year as well: Smith (Massachutes), Hawaii Pacific (Hawaii of course:), Johnson & Wales (Rhode Island) to name a few.
There will also be some very great workshops to attend: Finding Money for College, Helpful hints on writng Essays, Secondyear College student panel (they will help you find out what to expect when youo get to school)
So Mark your Calendars and be there!!!!!
